Beginners course information

This page provides more information for people interested in our forthcoming beginners course. Below is information on the course curriculum and what you will need to bring to the course, if you should choose to attend.

Course content

The course is run over 3 consecutive weekend afternoons (weather permitting during the outdoor season) under the supervision of an Archery GB-licensed coach with the assistance of experienced archers.

During the course, candidates will be instructed in how to shoot barebow and freestyle target archery using a recurve bow. There will also be demonstrations of other bow styles depending upon availability.

Each session lasts about 4 hours with a break for refreshments.

What to bring

Course attendees do not need to bring any special equipment as all equipment is provided by the club. You should however wear comfortable outdoor clothing that is not loose fitting (no baggy sleeves) and footwear that covers the entire foot (no sandals or open-toed shoes).

For courses taking place during the outdoor season, please bring a raincoat and / or sunhat and sun cream as appropriate, depending on the weather forecast. If the weather is particularly bad, we will postpone the session.

You may also wish to bring a snack and a drink, but refreshments will be provided.

While you are attending the course, you will be covered by the insurance provided by Archery GB.

Please Note: All juniors must be accompanied by a parent / guardian.
